Rip. Upload. Own.

Hardwire: If there’s no owning, there’s no stealing

Hardwire is a speculative design project that takes place in a world of subscription services and renting. There is no purchasing to keep, only buying to license and eventually- return or lose.

Hardwire comes as the solution. Functioning as a digital and physical media (an almost completely lost form) shop, Hardwire didn’t like the way companies were turning in the year 2075. Libraries were dying. They bought them up and uses them, as well as the stores. as a front for the rebellion.

Using the USBMP3, you too can rip something off the internet, upload it for all to see and share, and own that content for yourself. Because in a world with no buying, there’s no stealing.

The logo

The Hardwire logo was made to be inconspicuous. It mimics small-time local businesses you may find in any city. It’s dingy, it’s laid back, and it’s coming to get your rights back.

The brand book

No revolution is complete without it’s branding.

Building the

Artifact.

The artifact was modeled in Tinkercad and 3D printed. Eventually, a glow tape was placed behind cut glass, buttons were fastened on, and branding stuck to the back.

The Posters

The library, as well as the shops, have posters everywhere. While analog isn’t all Hardwire specializes in, physical posters have become a sign of rebellion and freedom of choice.

Each poster was designed with the final showcase exhibition display in mind, creating an immersive experience.

Shop, Share, Own. Or for those on the inside:

Rip, Upload, Own.

The Bifold

The Bifold is to educate about the USBMP3. The device is the life force of the movement.

You can either wire in (plug the device into whatever you’re trying to rip content off) or wirelessly tap in. All disguised as a functional mp3 player.

Learn how the device works, it’s origins, and be inspired to make a change.

Personas

Living personas that you can access, only as a Hardwire employee. Here is where people are screened for library access, employment, and access to the USBMP3

Propoganda

No movement is complete without it’s own propaganda.

Created with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Express, the initiation video asks a simple question: will you join the movement?
